Your hosts

Robyn and Vince Powell

As new comers to the Waikato area since June 2014, we absolutely love living at Lake Karapiro. Hospitality has always been a passion of ours, so running Karapiro Willows Bed and Breakfast has opened up new opportunities to share our lives with other people.

The Lake, we soon discovered is a very busy place with Rowing, Water -skiing, Wake-boarding, Powerboat and Waka competitions, and not to mention the Domain which hosts Waitangi Day, Classic Car, Weddings and Anzac day events.
Our guests have opened our eyes to their diverse interests in a myriad of local events.

What our guests say....

Superb bed, bathroom and breakfast. Cambridge was surprisingly nice as a city as well. We stayed here to visit Hobbiton and it was perfect.

Beautifully appointed room in a lovely B&B. Robyn the host made us very welcome. It was clear that our hosts had taken great care to create high spec accommodation and to provide a tasteful and quality finish to the room. Another nice touch was that all guests had breakfast at the same table and we met several interesting people there.

Amazing in every aspect - beautiful house and rooms, and the hosts Vince and Robin do everything they can to help and make you feel welcome. Our family booked all three rooms and each one was spotless and beautifully appointed. We happened to have some perishable ingredients that we had intended to cook and the next morning Vince and Robin very kindly helped to incorporate these items into the breakfast, as well as cooking some (perfectly) for us to take on the road. Above and beyond and a perfect experience!”

This accommodation is simply amazing. A huge surprise. Robyn is a great host. She is very friendly and she loves talking with her guests. She is helpful for planning activities in the area. She even provides some brochures. She really wants us to have a nice stay as in her house than in New Zealand.

The room was very clean and well set up with some lovely touches. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was amazing and the hosts were very welcoming. The setting was beautiful. It was a short drive from Cambridge and some lovely restaurants. I would happily stay here again when I'm next in Cambridge.

Perfect stay in North Island!

Karapiro Willows was everything we have expected and even more! From the location (right in the middle of the north island, close to Rotorua, Hobbiton, Waitomo Glow Worm Cave) to the comfort of the rooms and quality of the breakfast. There are 3 rooms in total available for guests, built in line as a wing of the main house where the hosts live. 1 room has a king bed the other 2 have queen beds. The rooms have also a dedicated patio, the one in the middle doesn’t. The bed is super comfy, the bathroom quite large. Everything is very clean.
We have appreciated the toiletries provided. Not only that they were in full size (not the small ones you usually get in hotels) but also they were Eco, no funny stuff in them. The breakfast was excellent, home made muesli, yogurt, smoked salmon, cheese, avocado, tomatoes, boiled eggs and jams+honey.

"Outstanding - everything you want from a quality B&B"S

Stayed May 2015, traveled on business

Recently stayed at Karapiro Willows when in the region on business. From first impressions during the booking process, right through to our departure, every aspect of our stay was outstanding, and most certainly everything you want from a quality B&B.

The 3 en-suite rooms are located at the rear of the property with a separate entrance and parking, giving you the privacy often lacking at other B&B's. The room was spacious, immaculately clean and complete with finishing touches including Lindor chocolates and freshly baked cookies on arrival. Each room also had tea and coffee facilities (including plunger coffee), big screen TV, hi-speed wi-fi and a spacious bathroom with Eco-products and large fluffy towels. All led to an extremely comfortable and quiet stay and a great nights sleep in the huge bed.

If that wasn't enough, in the morning we were welcomed into our hosts kitchen for freshly squeezed juices, array of herbal teas, coffee, home made muesli with home made spreads and preserves, yogurt, freshly baked local breads, cooked egg, cheeses and salmon - too much choice! And all enjoyed with good conversation, local advice and the sun streaming in to the breakfast room.            It was a shame our stay was so short, but I hope to return another time, and can most certainly recommend Karapiro Willows to anyone seeking quality accommodation in the Cambridge region.

"A hidden treasure"

"What an incredible place to stay. You instantly feel at home as you step through the front door. The breakfasts are amazing an there are lots of healthy options to choose or you could indulge in freshly baked muffins. A stay I will never forget and a place I will definitely return to.
